About Paybis
Paybis is a global crypto/fiat platform operating since 2014, serving customers across 180+ countries. Self-funded, PCI DSS Level 1. We build and scale complex fintech products focused on payments, KYC verification, and customer experience.
We are looking for a Strong Middle QA Engineer (Manual) who fully owns test strategy, independently identifies edge cases, works confidently with APIs, and isn’t afraid to influence the QA process without being asked.
This isn’t a “execute test cases from a list” role. It’s a role for someone who thinks like a tester and an analyst at the same time.
What You’ll Do
Independently design test strategy for new features: select priorities, cover edge cases, build regression coverage
Create and maintain test cases, checklists, and test plans in the test management system
Run functional and regression testing of web and mobile interfaces
Test REST APIs via Postman: requests, status codes, response body, validation
Test complex user flows: onboarding, KYC verification, checkout — with an understanding of compliance requirements
Use Chrome DevTools and SQL for issue diagnostics and data validation
Work closely with developers and the QA team throughout the SDLC
Optionally mentor Junior QA engineers
Proactively propose improvements to QA process and test coverage
What We Expect
Must-Have:
Confident manual testing experience: functional and regression testing of web applications
Test design: writing test cases, checklists, test plans (BVA, EP, pairwise techniques)
REST API testing — Postman: requests, status codes, auth, body, response validation
SQL — queries for data validation in DB after test scenarios
Chrome DevTools — active use (Network, Console, Elements)
Jira / Allure TestOps (or equivalent) — bug reporting, test case management
Experience testing onboarding / KYC flows or payment flows
Mobile testing — iOS/Android (real devices)
Understanding of SDLC and STLC
Analytical thinking and ownership mindset
English Upper-Intermediate+ (B2+)
Nice-to-Have:
Experience in fintech / payments / KYC domain
Knowledge of Sumsub or other KYC/AML providers
BrowserStack / Sauce Labs — cross-browser testing
Baseline automation skills (Selenium, Cypress)
Grafana / CloudWatch — log analysis
Understanding of PCI DSS and compliance requirements
Shift-Left testing experience
Contract testing (Pact or equivalent)
ISTQB certification or equivalent
Soft Skills:
Analytical thinking — complex onboarding flows and KYC edge cases require a systemic approach, not reactive testing
Attention to detail — one missed bug in KYC or checkout costs the company a user, a compliance incident, or money
Ownership mindset — you spot coverage gaps and propose improvements yourself, without waiting to be assigned
User empathy — you test through the eyes of a real user, finding UX issues, not just technical bugs
Partnership with development — testability is discussed at the feature design stage, not after release
Adaptability — release priorities shift quickly; you refocus without losing coverage quality
English communication — all documentation and bug reports are written in English
What Success Looks Like
First Month:
Onboarding complete per internal documentation. You know the product and team processes.
First 3 Months:
Probation passed. You independently and effectively execute team tasks: testing, creating test cases, bug reporting. Goals set for the next 6 months.
First 6 Months:
You fully cover all tasks assigned to your team. Goals set after probation are completed.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Independently designs test strategy rather than just executing ready-made test cases
