About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior or Principal Data Engineer to support Moody’s data engineering initiatives.
In this role, you’ll design and build scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions that transform raw data into valuable business insights. You’ll work closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineering teams to deliver reliable and high-performing data platforms.
Location: Remote (European Union) Engagement: Full-time, long-term contract Start Date: ASAP Language: English Time Zone: Ability to overlap with Eastern US hours
What You’ll Do
Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
Build production-grade data workflows using tools such as dbt and Airflow
Develop robust data solutions using Python and SQL
Optimize data models and pipelines for performance and cost efficiency
Work with AWS and modern cloud technologies
Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to ensure data readiness
Perform code reviews and mentor engineers
Ensure high standards for data quality, security, and privacy
Troubleshoot and improve existing data platforms
Work with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions
Must-Have Requirements
4+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles
Strong experience with Python and SQL
Experience designing and building ETL/ELT pipelines
Experience with dbt
Experience with AWS
Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture
Experience building and supporting production data systems
Familiarity with code reviews and engineering best practices
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Databricks
Experience with Airflow
Knowledge of Star Schema or Data Vault modeling
Experience with Azure or GCP
Experience working with large-scale enterprise environments
