FAQ

Common questions about this CV

Do I need a weapons permit to start?

No, static posts at malls and offices usually do not require one. A permit becomes necessary for cash-in-transit, executive protection or high-risk sites. If you have one, list it explicitly.

How should I describe military experience?

It is a strong asset. Name the unit, role and dates, then translate the skills into civilian language: radio comms, first aid, perimeter control, calm under pressure.

Is there a path from guard to shift supervisor or site manager?

Yes, especially in large security firms. Most supervisors come up after 1 to 2 years on site plus willingness to train new joiners and own paperwork.

What is a normal shift length?

Most sites use 8 or 12 hour shifts, sometimes 24/48 patterns. If a posting asks for anything different, it should be stated up front, otherwise treat it as a red flag.
