About the Role
This is not a traditional Tech Lead role focused on a single long-term project.
We’re looking for a Tech Lead —someone who can quickly join different client projects, establish engineering standards, lead development teams, and independently own technical decisions from day one.
Depending on business needs, you’ll either:
lead a larger cross-functional engineering team on a strategic project;
or oversee several smaller engineering teams simultaneously, helping each deliver successfully.
Every 4–6 months you may rotate to a new project, new domain, or even a different technology stack. We provide structured onboarding and expect experienced leaders who enjoy adapting quickly to new challenges.
What You’ll Do
Own technical delivery for one or multiple client projects.
Lead backend engineers through mentoring, code reviews, and engineering standards.
Drive architectural decisions while balancing technical excellence with business needs.
Communicate directly with client stakeholders without requiring day-to-day CTO involvement.
Identify technical and delivery risks early and proactively mitigate them.
Contribute to project estimations, architecture planning, and technical solution design.
Stay hands-on with development when needed—review critical code, build prototypes, and resolve complex production issues.
Help teams adopt AI tools responsibly while maintaining high engineering quality.
What We’re Looking For
Leadership
Proven experience leading engineering teams in client-facing environments.
Ability to take ownership instead of waiting for direction.
Strong stakeholder communication and decision-making skills.
Comfortable leading either one larger team or multiple smaller teams.
Passion for mentoring engineers while maintaining high standards without micromanagement.
Technical Expertise
Strong Kotlin and Spring Boot experience in production.
Deep understanding of microservices architecture and API design.
Experience with Kafka (including Kafka Connect), gRPC and Protobuf.
Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL, Yugabyte and jOOQ.
Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, GCP and containerized environments.
Strong debugging skills in distributed systems and high-load production environments.
Ability to adapt to a new steck if needed
Nice to Have
FinTech or Payments domain experience.
Previous outsourcing or consulting background.
Experience participating in pre-sales or technical discovery.
Professional AWS or GCP certification.
