We are looking for a Senior SMS Manager to own the end-to-end build-out of SMS as a revenue channel across our flagship newsletter portfolio. This is a greenfield, high-stakes initiative. You will design and launch the opt-in infrastructure, drive subscriber growth, build the monetization playbook, and hire and lead a team to scale it all. Nothing like this exists here yet. You will be the one who builds it.
This is not a coordinator role. This is not a vendor management role. This is a full ownership role for someone who has launched SMS programs at scale, knows how to turn a subscriber list into a revenue line, and can move fast without sacrificing quality. If you have done this before and you want to do it bigger, this role was built for you.
We run large-scale newsletter operations with engaged, high-volume audiences. SMS is the next major growth lever and we are investing seriously in getting it right. The person who takes this role will have direct access to leadership, real resources, and the mandate to build something that matters.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Must-have
5+ years in SMS marketing, mobile messaging, or a closely related channel — with at least 2 years at enterprise or high-volume scale
Proven track record of launching and scaling an SMS program from scratch or near-scratch, not just inheriting an existing channel
Deep hands-on experience with a major SMS platform — Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Twilio, or comparable — at meaningful send volume. Platform name matters less than what you did with it.
Demonstrated ability to grow an SMS subscriber list aggressively while maintaining deliverability and engagement
Experience building and selling SMS advertising inventory, including rate cards, targeting, and advertiser-facing reporting
Fluency in SMS compliance — TCPA, GDPR, CTIA guidelines — not as a bullet point on a resume but as something you have lived and enforced
Experience hiring and managing a small team, with a clear ability to build toward a larger function
Excellent English, written and verbal (C1 or above)
Obsessive about data. You track everything, report clearly, and make decisions from numbers.
Nice to have
Background in newsletter, media, affiliate, or performance marketing environments
Experience with workflow automation tools such as Make, Zapier, or similar applied to messaging operations
Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks applied to message copy, send timing, and opt-in conversion
Experience with cross-channel subscriber data and identity resolution across email and SMS
Technical fluency with APIs, webhooks, or basic scripting for platform integrations
