The next great challenge is coming:
As a Senior Game Designer, you will join our team building a high-fidelity XR vehicle driving simulator delivered on Unreal Engine 5, combining custom vehicle physics, a motion platform, and head-mounted displays into a fully immersive training experience. In this role, you will own the design of the systems that make the simulation feel real and teach the right behaviours: vehicle handling across varied terrain, weather, and fault conditions; instructor-driven scenarios; and the scoring and after-action review that turn each session into measurable skill transfer.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced designer who understands the technical underpinnings of driving and simulation systems, thrives in immersive XR/VR development, and can collaborate across disciplines to deliver a turnkey product under a defined timeline. Acting as a bridge between Game Design and Engineering, you will translate real-world vehicle behaviour and learning objectives into technically sound, achievable systems, from physics tuning and motion-platform profiling to diegetic glass-panel interfaces and in-world AI.
Superpowers you have:
5+ years of experience in Game or Systems Design, with a strong focus on vehicle, driving, or simulation gameplay for PC titles.
At least one shipped simulation, driving, or systems-driven title with ownership of vehicle behaviour, gameplay systems, or scripted mechanics.
Proven experience designing for XR/VR, including immersive interaction design and an understanding of comfort, presence, and motion considerations.
Hands-on vehicle physics and handling tuning, covering traction, weight transfer, suspension, and surface-specific behaviour across varied terrain.
Strong systems design across interconnected domains such as vehicle, weather, terrain, and fault/failure states.
Solid command of Unreal Engine 5, particularly Blueprints, with data-driven content workflows.
Experience designing scoring, KPI, and after-action review (AAR) systems that turn telemetry into clear, actionable feedback.
Training and scenario design experience, structuring progression from familiarisation through assessment.
AI design for in-world traffic and group/escort vehicle behaviour.
Experience designing instructor tooling and runtime fault-injection systems for controlled, repeatable scenarios.
Diegetic UI / glass-panel (virtual dashboard) design that keeps the interface grounded in the simulated world.
Familiarity with motion-platform and force-feedback profiling, tuning cues for believable, comfortable feedback.
Strong technical documentation and specification-writing skills.
Excellent cross-disciplinary communication, with the ability to clearly express design and technical goals.
Proven ability to act as a bridge between Game Design and Engineering, translating creative intent into technically sound, achievable solutions.
Becoming part of Room 8 Group, you will:
Design, prototype, implement, and refine vehicle, simulation, and gameplay systems within Unreal Engine 5 and the project’s tools.
Tune vehicle physics and handling for believable behaviour across terrain types, surfaces, weather, and fault conditions.
Own the design of XR/VR interactions, ensuring immersion, comfort, and clarity for users in-headset.
Design and tune motion-platform and force-feedback profiles so that physical cues match on-screen behaviour.
Design diegetic, glass-panel interfaces and virtual dashboards that reconfigure across vehicle types.
Design instructor tooling and runtime fault-injection systems for controlled, repeatable scenarios.
Author training scenarios and progression, from familiarisation through assessment.
Design AI for in-world traffic and group/escort vehicle behaviour.
Design scoring, KPI, and after-action review systems that turn telemetry into clear, actionable feedback.
