Outstaff Hiring: Remote — Contract (Full-time, long-term)
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support fintech enterprise data engineering initiatives. In this role, you will help evaluate graph database technologies and determine the best approach for building an enterprise-scale knowledge graph. The work is hands-on, benchmark-driven, and focused on measurable results.

What You’ll Do
Extract and transform data from Databricks
Load and test data across multiple graph database platforms
Build relationship structures and entity linkages that reflect production data models
Implement benchmark queries using native graph query languages and PostgreSQL recursive CTEs
Develop APIs to evaluate query performance across different use cases
Analyze benchmark results and contribute to technology recommendations
Work with engineering and architecture teams to support decision-making
Create repeatable testing environments and performance evaluations
Document findings and provide technical recommendations
Must-Have Requirements
4+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles
Strong experience with Databricks
Hands-on experience with at least two graph databases
Strong knowledge of Neo4j and/or TigerGraph
Working proficiency with Cypher
Strong PostgreSQL skills, including:
Recursive CTEs
Materialized views
Query plan analysis
Index strategy
Experience building and managing database environments
Experience running structured technology benchmarks
Strong communication and documentation skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Nice-to-Have
Experience with additional graph databases (Nebula Graph, ArangoDB, etc.)
Knowledge of GSQL, nGQL, AQL, or openCypher
Experience building APIs for data platforms
Kubernetes experience for database workloads
AWS database deployment experience
KYC or AML domain knowledge
Experience working in large enterprise environments
