The role
We are looking for a Product Owner for the Alf platform. It is not a conventional feature-team role, and we would rather say so now than discover it together in month three. Roughly half is product ownership of a live AI product with real users and real failure modes. The other half is platform work: defining what belongs to the platform versus what belongs to each team, holding a shared quality bar across all of it, and defining what a team needs to succeed in covering their own area, enabling them to get there. The role also isn’t scoped to Alf alone — it extends to new AI-driven streams as they emerge (MCP tools being one current example).
Your expertise:
5+ years in product ownership or product management in a technical product, with clear evidence of independent ownership
Experience owning a platform, API or internal-platform product where other teams were your users
Experience driving something cross-team — a standard, a contract, a migration — that others had to adopt while you had no authority over them
Comfortable in Agile delivery with engineers, QA and design
Hands-on experience building or developing AI-powered products or features
Experience integrating AI capabilities (LLMs, AI APIs, intelligent workflows) into software products
Strong understanding of AI product development and experience driving AI-related functionality
Will definitely be a plus:
Experience with conversational or voice interfaces, including how constraints differ on mobile
Familiarity with tool-calling architectures or agent frameworks
Experience with knowledge-base or content pipelines feeding an AI system
A background in support tooling, escalation flows, or trust and safety
Exposure to domains, DNS, hosting or email

You will be involved into:
Owning the platform roadmap: routing, context management, model integration, shared tooling, monitoring and testing foundations
Defining what the platform provides versus what individual teams own — and keeping that line from blurring
Enabling teams that take on an assistant in their own domain: what’s expected of them, and the support they need to meet it
Owning and defining how sensitive or complex operations are surfaced and controlled in a conversation
Defining quality and safety requirements, and driving an evaluation approach that catches regressions before customers do
Turning quality and operational signals into prioritised improvements
Preparing backlog items that are ready to build, including failure handling and acceptance criteria
Working with UX and engineering on flows where the interaction model itself is the hard part
Maintaining a big-picture view of system health and success criteria across every team building on Alf, and identifying what needs attention
