ABOUT THE COMPANY
We are an iGaming company building and modernizing a real-money online casino platform for the Nigerian market. Our product is undergoing a major technical transformation from a legacy Node.js/Express/PHP monolith to a modern cloud-native architecture based on Next.js, NestJS, microservices, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
We’re creating an AI-first engineering environment where software engineers act as system architects. AI coding assistants handle routine implementation, while engineers focus on architecture, technical decisions, code quality, scalability, and long-term system design.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Architect who will play a key role in designing and evolving the platform’s backend architecture.
This is not a traditional development role. You’ll be responsible for defining technical solutions, orchestrating AI coding agents, reviewing generated code, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring the platform remains scalable, reliable, and maintainable as the business grows.
You’ll work on business-critical systems including wallet infrastructure, payment processing, transaction management, and integrations with gaming and payment providers.
GOALS FOR THE PROBATION PERIOD (FIRST 2–3 MONTHS)
• Gain a deep understanding of the existing platform architecture and legacy services • Design and implement key microservices as part of the migration strategy • Establish architectural standards for AI-assisted software development • Configure and improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and development environments • Build reliable testing and deployment processes for AI-generated code • Take ownership of one or more core business domains (Wallet, Payments, Transactions, Provider Integrations)
WHAT YOU WILL DO
• Design scalable backend architecture based on microservices and event-driven principles • Lead the migration from the legacy Node.js/Express/PHP platform to a modern technology stack • Work with AI coding assistants (Claude Code and similar tools) to accelerate development while maintaining code quality • Review AI-generated code and enforce engineering standards and architectural consistency • Design and improve CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and Kubernetes environments • Build reliable automated testing and quality assurance processes • Develop and maintain integrations with payment providers and game aggregators • Design secure and scalable wallet and transaction systems for real-money operations • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to define technical solutions and platform evolution
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience • Strong commercial experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) in daily development workflows • Strong understanding of microservices architecture and event-driven systems (Kafka or similar messaging platforms) • Experience designing distributed systems from architecture through production deployment • Strong DevOps knowledge including Kubernetes, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and observability tools • Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB • Understanding of frontend architecture and experience working with Next.js • English level B2+ (written and spoken)
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience in iGaming, Fintech, Payments, or other high-load transactional products • Experience integrating game aggregators or payment providers • Knowledge of PHP for maintaining legacy services during migration • Experience with fraud prevention, AML, or compliance-related systems
