About the role
We’re extending our Swiss-based engineering team and are looking for a full-stack engineer who is strong in Flutter and has a solid backend background. You’ll be a full member of the team in Switzerland, own features end to end, from the API and data model to the screen in the user’s hands, and help decide how they should be built.
Our backend runs on Kotlin, deployed on Azure, with services communicating through RabbitMQ. We rely heavily on AI-assisted development, so we care more about your backend engineering judgment than about the language you’ve used. If you’ve built production services in Node.js, Java, Go, Python or similar, you’ll be productive here.
What you’ll do
Build and ship cross-platform iOS and Android apps with Flutter.
Design and implement backend features: APIs, data models, integrations, background jobs.
Design how services and clients communicate: message flows, event contracts, sync vs. async.
Turn product requirements into technical solutions and explain your reasoning.
Take part in architecture decisions across mobile and backend.
Work day to day with the Swiss team to clarify requirements and raise risks early.
Review code and keep quality high in a codebase where much of the code is AI-generated.
What we’re looking for
Mobile (core)
2+ years of commercial Flutter and Dart, with at least one app published to the App Store and Google Play.
State management (Bloc or similar) and reactive programming with Streams.
Clean Architecture and code generation (Freezed, json_serializable).
Push notifications, deep links, and testing (unit and widget).
Backend
3+ years building production backend services in any mainstream language.
REST, WebSockets, and message brokers. We use RabbitMQ, but Kafka, SQS, Azure Service Bus or similar is equally valuable.
Messaging patterns: pub/sub, queues, retries, idempotency.
Relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred): schema design, indexing, query optimization, migrations.
Authentication and authorization (JWT, OAuth, or similar).
Caching and background job processing.
Willingness to work in Kotlin with AI tooling, even if Kotlin is new to you.
Engineering mindset
You understand the whole system and can explain how a backend change affects the app and vice versa.
You make reasoned technical decisions and can defend them, or change your mind when the facts change.
You communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
You use AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) daily and know how to review what they produce.
General
4+ years of commercial software development.
Upper-Intermediate English or higher.
Comfortable working Central European business hours.
Nice to have
RabbitMQ specifically.
Kotlin or JVM backend experience.
Azure, or private / on-premise infrastructure.
gRPC, GraphQL, or MQTT.
Docker and CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Codemagic, Fastlane).
React / Next.js for dashboards and admin panels.
LLM integration (OpenAI, Anthropic) or RAG.
Maps, geolocation, Bluetooth, NFC, or QR scanning.
