About the Role
This is a hands-on communications role with a focus on media relations and the special projects that build Woofz’s reputation. Owning outbound media relationships (with a strong focus on the US market) and working closely with the leadership team, you’ll help the world know Woofz’s story and values even better.
You’ll work closely with the Brand & Organic Lead, as well as key decision-makers across marketing and product.
What You’ll do
A strong mid-level communications professional who’s ready to take on more ownership — you want ambiguity and room to run projects yourself.
Must-haves:
3–4 years of experience in PR/communications, with hands-on experience pitching US media and working directly with spokespeople
Strong writing skills, with a sharp eye for AI-generated copy — you can spot AI slop from three words in. You treat AI as a tool for drafting ideas and first passes, not as the writer. You’re the one who turns that draft into something publishable
Creativity — your eyes light up when you get to come up with something new, and you have a track record of generating original story ideas and angles
English B2—C1
Comfortable owning several projects/channels at once
Strong sense of ownership and ability to work independently to deliver results
Use AI tools daily with some automated routine tasks
What We’re Looking For
Media pitching (US focus): Research, build, and pitch relevant journalists, podcasts, and outlets in the tech, lifestyle, business, and pet press
Writing: Write pitches, press materials (press releases, op-eds, thought leadership pieces, quotes), and internal messaging documents for special projects to keep the broader team aligned
Generating ideas: Spot timely hooks and story angles (news-jacking, data-led stories, founder POV pieces)
Creating and running moment-driven special projects (cultural or category moments) and pro-bono projects that stretch across several channels (PR, social, current users), but are always anchored in a strong media hook. You own the campaign idea and story, and coordinate execution across the channels involved
Preparing the spokespeople: Prepare talking points and brief key decision-makers ahead of interviews, podcasts, and speaking opportunities; help source and pitch conference/podcast speaking slots
Coordinate our contractors (e.g. Reddit) to make sure the story stays consistent everywhere it shows up
Сollaborate with other departments — marketing, product and content teams
Driving other projects: Drive projects that build Woofz’s reputation in the market and help build trust among our users — e.g. submitting the app to industry awards, or finding opportunities to partner with other companies or organizations to create an interesting news hook and drive attention to the product
