About the Role
We are looking for an Upwork Sales / SDR to own client communication, qualification, deal shaping, and closing on Upwork.
This role works with warm inbound leads generated through Upwork profiles and bids. You are responsible not only for responding to clients and closing deals, but also for actively managing and improving the performance of assigned Upwork profiles as a revenue asset.
This is not classic outbound sales and not a chat-only SDR role. This is a full ownership role inside a marketplace environment.
👉 What You’ll Do
1. Upwork Client Communication & Sales
Handle all incoming client responses on assigned Upwork profiles
Maintain fast and consistent response times
Qualify leads via chat and calls
Conduct discovery calls with potential clients
Shape scope, budget ranges, and next steps
Close deals or move leads into structured follow-ups
Use GigRadar:
Check the daily lead feed.
Prioritize “hot” matches.
Follow up on matched jobs immediately.
Maintain a high response score to keep the GigRadar algorithm favorable.
2. Upwork Profile Ownership & Performance
Own the performance of assigned Upwork profiles;
Monitor profile metrics (views, invitations, response rate, lead quality);
Continuously improve: profile positioning, service descriptions, portfolio, and case presentation;
Initiate and collect client reviews;
Treat the profile as a sales funnel, not a static page.
3. Deal Quality & Risk Control
Avoid technical or delivery overpromising;
Identify unrealistic scope, timelines, or budgets early;
Protect the delivery team from poorly qualified deals;
Ensure consistency between profile positioning, communication, and proposals.
4. CRM & Sales Discipline
Maintain accurate deal stages in CRM (Pipedrive);
Log key deal information and next steps;
