FAQ

Common questions about this CV

Should I list every unit I have floated to?

List the units where you actually held a steady assignment, plus any specialty floats that lasted more than a couple of weeks. Recruiters care about depth on a unit type, not a long bullet list of one-shift visits.

I am a new grad with no ICU experience. Can I apply for ICU jobs?

Yes, plenty of hospitals run new-grad ICU residencies. Highlight clinicals, sim labs and any tele or step-down rotations. Be honest about scope, but show you have been preparing intentionally.

Are online certifications worth listing?

Only the accredited ones: BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, TNCC, CCRN. Generic webinars and short courses do not earn space on the CV, save them for the cover letter.

How much experience do I need before applying for charge nurse?

Usually 4-5 years on the unit plus regular relief charge shifts. If you have not run assignments and managed admissions, the interview will catch that fast.

Should I include volunteer or wartime nursing experience?

Absolutely. Spell out duration, patient volume and what protocols you ran. That kind of experience often weighs more than a year of routine ward work.
