[Contract/Part-Time] Unreal Engine Bug Fixing — Small Indie Tactical RPG, Ukraine-Based Team
We’re a small, independent team building Burned Horizons, a turn-based tactical RPG set in the early 2000s, think a grounded, consequence-driven squad tactics game where wounds, trust, and psychological trauma carry forward across missions, not just another XCOM-style reskin. Currently in closed alpha, actively building toward Early Access.
We’re looking for someone to help knock out a specific, well-documented list of bugs over the next 2-3 weeks, roughly 5-6 hours/week. This isn’t an open-ended “help with whatever” role, we have a clearly organized bug tracker with clear repro steps, severity ratings, and expected behavior already written out for each item. You’d be picking up tickets and fixing them, not doing open-ended design or feature work.
What’s involved: UI/UX bug fixes, some inventory and command wheel-related issues, sizing/scaling fixes, missing sounds, a few cosmetic text corrections. Built in Unreal Engine.
Requirements: conversational English, since you’ll be coordinating directly with the team on tickets and questions, not just reading documentation.
Budget: we’re currently able to pay up to $220/week for this role. There’s a real possibility of more hours and continued work once we hit Early Access and start generating revenue, this could turn into an ongoing role if it’s a good fit on both sides, but right now we’re being upfront that this is a short, scoped engagement at a modest, honest rate.
If you’re interested, comfortable working independently from written tickets, and open to a short trial run to see if it’s a good fit, reach out and I’ll share the current bug list so you can see exactly what the work looks like before committing.
