About the project
Our client is a travel technology product company with HQ in Dubai and an engineering hub in Warsaw. It builds a cloud-native airline retailing platform that connects airlines for digital retailing and processes millions of ticket purchases every month.
The team is now moving the platform from the legacy Passenger Service System (PSS) model to the modern Offer/Order (OOSD) model. Part of this work is a bridge layer that maps PNRs, E-Tickets/EMDs, RBDs and fare basis codes to Orders, Offers, Products and inventory buckets. The move happens in phases: first one-way data priming (PSS → OOSD), then two-way synchronisation (PSS ⇄ OOSD).
The client builds and owns its product, so engineers shape architecture and technical decisions instead of just implementing tickets. The team is international, and English is the everyday working language.
Tech stack: Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, AWS, MySQL, DynamoDB, EDIFACT and TTY messaging, AI coding assistants (Claude).
About the role:
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Java) with deep expertise in the airline PSS domain. You’ll use your hands-on experience with reservations, ticketing, inventory, schedules, fares and distribution to connect traditional PSS capabilities with modern Offer/Order retailing.
The role combines hands-on engineering with complex airline-domain challenges. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Architects and other engineers. AI coding assistants are part of the daily engineering workflow.
You have:
Software engineering
7+ years of professional experience with Java
Strong experience with Spring Boot and microservices
Solid experience building and integrating REST APIs
Experience with AWS (preferred) or other cloud platforms
Strong engineering fundamentals, clean code and automated testing
Experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Fluent English, both written and spoken
Airline PSS domain
Extensive hands-on experience building digital solutions in the airline PSS domain
Reservations: PNRs and End-of-Transaction (EoT) processing
Ticketing: E-Tickets and EMDs
Schedules: SSIM, ASM and ASS setup, maintenance and distribution
Inventory: RBD setup, maintenance and distribution
Fares & Pricing: fare filing and ATPCO
Distribution: EDIFACT and TTY messaging
Would be a plus:
NoSQL databases, such as DynamoDB
IATA standards, PADIS messaging, PNRGOV and related airline data formats
NDC and Offer/Order (ONE Order) retailing models
Departure Control Systems (DCS): check-in, weight & balance, load control
GDS connectivity (Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport), interline and codeshare integration
Distributed and event-driven system design
Airline-grade non-functional requirements: high availability with minimal or no maintenance windows, high-throughput transactional processing, low-latency shopping and availability
Awareness of PCI-DSS and GDPR requirements for passenger data
AWS certification
Practical experience with AI-assisted software development
You are going to:
Design, develop and evolve Java microservices on Spring Boot, plus REST APIs and cloud-native services
Work on core PSS capabilities: reservations, ticketing, inventory, schedules, fares and distribution
Build the bridge between legacy PSS and the Offer/Order (OOSD) platform, translating legacy concepts into clean OOSD-native designs
Build and improve airline integrations over EDIFACT and TTY
Design solutions for airline-grade requirements: high availability, scalability, performance and transactional integrity
Work with Product Managers and Architects to turn complex domain requirements into robust technical solutions
Improve existing services in terms of performance, reliability and maintainability
Contribute to architecture discussions, technical decisions and engineering best practices
Write clean, well-tested code, using AI-assisted tools as part of your daily workflow
