At SPD Technology, we bring together a team of like-minded people who are driven by the desire to bring value through their work, united in their commitment to high performance and delivering custom, cutting-edge tech solutions that drive clients’ growth. We empower our people with a culture of excellence and enable them with the opportunity to uphold their accountability to contribute on each level. We value humanity and collaboration, encourage professional and personal growth, and foster a supportive and flexible work environment where everyone’s contribution is welcomed.
And now we are looking for a Senior Python Developer to join us as part of our team.
About the role:
We’re building an AI-powered legal content platform that helps law firms research, draft, and submit Chambers USA rankings. It captures matter intelligence from court records, documents, and lawyer interviews and turns it into structured knowledge that feeds an editorial workflow with mandatory human approval at every stage.
The core principle is human-in-the-loop AI assists, the backend enforces it. There are async research pipelines, multi-agent workflows on Amazon Bedrock, a multi-tenant PostgreSQL knowledge base, and pre-flight review gates that block any AI draft from advancing without writer sign-off.
We need a Python developer who can own the API and async pipeline — not just implement specs, but make design decisions that hold up as the platform grows.
Tech Stack: Primary Language — Python (API + AI pipeline work)
Cloud & Infra — AWS — ECS Fargate, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, SQS/SNS, ElastiCache Redis, Amazon Cognito, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail
Terraform or Pulumi for IaC, GitHub Actions for CI/CD
Database — Aurora PostgreSQL — schema-per-tenant isolation, JSONB, PITR
AI & ML — Amazon Bedrock (multi-agent orchestration), AssemblyAI (audio transcription)
Queue & Async — Celery (or equivalent), SQS/SNS for events and notifications
Storage — S3 — documents, transcripts, exports, platform assets
API — REST + OpenAPI
As a qualified expert You will
Core API — Python backend on ECS Fargate behind API Gateway. You will design and build endpoints across the full workflow: matter creation, document ingestion, knowledge extraction, draft generation, review chains, and export.
Async Pipeline — AWS Step Functions orchestrate the heavy work — document fingerprinting, audio transcription via AssemblyAI, research orchestration, and Chambers generation. You will build these workflows, handle retries and failure states, and keep async jobs from blocking the editorial flow.
Knowledge Base & Data Layer — Aurora PostgreSQL with schema-per-tenant isolation, JSONB for flexible matter data, and auditability baked into the schema. You’ll write migrations, optimize queries, and keep the model clean as the product evolves.
AI Agent Integration — The platform runs agents via Amazon Bedrock — case summary, interview gap analysis, prep sheet generation, Chambers drafting. You will build the layer that orchestrates them, passes context correctly, logs AI activity, and enforces pre-flight review gates.
Queue, Events, and Security — Celery or equivalent for job queuing, SQS/SNS for notifications. KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudTrail, and custom audit logging — every action needs a traceable record from source to export.
We’re looking for you if you have
Production Python backend experience
PostgreSQL at depth — schema design, JSONB, migrations, multi-tenant patterns, query optimization
AWS — ECS Fargate, Step Functions, S3, SQS/SNS, or equivalent async architecture
Job queue experience — Celery, BullMQ, or similar
Clean REST API instincts — versioning, error handling, OpenAPI
You ask questions before writing code
You push back when something doesn’t make sense. Early is better than late
Bonus Points:
LLM or AI agent integration — Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, or Anthropic API
IaC experience with Terraform or Pulumi
Experience in regulated environme
