We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer for our client, an Israeli AI startup building a platform for the publishing industry.
The company uses AI to analyze books and manuscripts, helping publishers and literary agents identify the books they are most interested in, while giving authors insights that can improve their chances of getting published.
The product sits at the intersection of AI, data, and user experience, turning complex manuscript analysis into practical tools used by publishing professionals and authors.
The Role
This is a highly independent, ownership-driven position.
You will work directly with the client’s CPO and take technical ownership of the product across backend, AI workflows, data pipelines, infrastructure, and the React application.
The role is backend-heavy, with most of your time focused on Python, APIs, data, AI integrations, and infrastructure. You will also work with the existing React application when needed.
The company is looking for someone senior enough to operate independently without relying on a dedicated tech lead or separate DevOps/backend teams.
What You’ll Own
* Backend APIs built with Python and FastAPI
* SQLAlchemy and Pydantic
* PostgreSQL, including data modelling, complex queries, performance, and scaling
* Integration and productionization of AI services and LLM APIs
* Data pipelines and Airflow DAGs
* AWS infrastructure, including ECS, RDS, S3, and boto3
* Docker, CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, and production troubleshooting
* Features and improvements in the React / Material UI web application
* Technical decisions across the product and infrastructure
What We’re Looking For
* Strong senior-level production experience with Python
* Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI
* Solid knowledge of relational data modelling, PostgreSQL and SQL
* Experience working with databases and APIs at scale
* Good understanding of API security, web protocols, and performance
* Practical experience integrating AI services or LLM APIs
* Hands-on experience with AWS
* Experience with Docker and CI/CD
* Experience with Airflow or similar data orchestration tools
* Ability to independently investigate and solve production issues
* Strong ownership mindset and comfort working in a small startup environment
* Ability to work effectively in English
Frontend expertise is not required. Product direction and design are handled by the CPO. However, you should be comfortable working with an existing React codebase and reviewing AI-generated frontend code when necessary.
