Overview
We are supporting an international technology manufacturer with an established global IT team and infrastructure projects spanning the UK, North America, and Asia.
The client has recently secured strategic investment and entered a new phase of growth, creating strong long-term momentum across engineering and technology initiatives.
This role will provide oversight and practical governance for four ongoing infrastructure projects with a combined budget of approximately £1.1 million. The CEO has backed short-term support to help get delivery back on track.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing complex IT infrastructure projects across multiple sites, along with the technical understanding needed to engage confidently with specialists and challenge delivery assumptions.
About the Environment Global Network and Server Infrastructure Projects (working title). Reliable timelines have been difficult to establish across the portfolio. The immediate need is to understand the actual delivery position, clarify ownership and dependencies, and establish credible plans.
The four projects are: — Global network segmentation using Aruba ClearPass: An initial site implementation has been completed; the remaining international sites are outstanding. — Global enterprise backup: Implementation of a new global backup system using Veeam and HP StoreOnce. — Server refresh: A complete server refresh at a North American site. — Legacy infrastructure migration: Migration of infrastructure services from Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2022 at an Asian site.
Early priorities are to establish each project’s status, risks, dependencies, owners and next steps; develop realistic plans with the teams; and introduce proportionate governance and reporting that gives the senior IT lead visibility of progress and decisions required. These are intended priorities rather than agreed deliverables. Detailed scope, milestones and completion dates will be established once the project position has been assessed.
Existing Team Structure The Programme Manager is expected to report to the client’s senior IT lead and work with the established global IT team, technical project teams, suppliers and local site stakeholders.
The detailed team structure, supplier involvement, reporting lines and decision-making arrangements are to be confirmed. The role requires the ability to operate with minimal supervision.
