We’re looking for a Frontend-Focused Full Stack Engineer to help build AI-powered experiences that enable teachers to create more engaging, participatory, and effective classrooms.
The role is primarily focused on frontend development with React and TypeScript. You’ll also contribute to backend functionality as part of feature delivery. Our current backend is built with PHP and Symfony, but previous experience with this specific stack is not required. We value practical backend experience, strong engineering fundamentals, and a willingness to learn and work across the stack.
You’ll work as part of a small cross-functional feature group that typically includes Product, QA, and one or more engineers. Feature delivery is collaborative rather than individual: developers work together through regular syncs, technical discussions, peer consultation, shared testing, and code reviews. More complex backend work may be handled in collaboration with a backend-focused engineer.
AI is an important part of both our product and engineering workflow. We use AI-assisted development tools to investigate solutions, prototype ideas, accelerate implementation, improve testing, and reduce repetitive work. Engineers remain responsible for the quality, maintainability, and correctness of the solutions they deliver.
What you’ll do
Develop frontend-focused features as part of a small cross-functional working group involving Product, Designer, QA, and other engineers.
Collaborate with Product Managers and QA engineers to understand customer needs, clarify requirements, validate assumptions, and shape practical solutions.
Build modern, accessible, responsive, and maintainable user experiences using React and TypeScript.
Contribute to backend functionality required for feature delivery.
Work with our PHP/Symfony backend and develop your knowledge of the stack as needed.
Collaborate with backend-focused engineers on complex server-side functionality, architecture, and integration decisions.
Work closely with other developers through regular development syncs, technical discussions, peer consultation, and code reviews.
Use AI-assisted development tools for investigation, prototyping, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Participate in architecture discussions and technical decisions relevant to the features being developed.
Write and maintain automated tests and help verify functionality before release.
Improve product quality through iteration, experimentation, feedback, and shared responsibility for successful delivery.
What we’re looking for:
Frontend
3+ years of professional experience building modern web applications.
Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
2+ years of professional experience with React.
Good understanding of modern frontend architecture, component design, state management, and asynchronous data flows.
Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar tools.
Experience integrating frontend applications with APIs.
Ability to build responsive, accessible, and maintainable user interfaces.
Experience debugging frontend issues and investigating problems across application boundaries.
Backend
Practical experience building or maintaining backend applications in any modern language or framework.
Good understanding of backend fundamentals, APIs, authentication, and relational databases.
Ability to implement backend changes required for feature delivery.
Experience investigating issues across frontend and backend boundaries.
Willingness to learn and contribute to a PHP/Symfony codebase.
Ability to collaborate with backend-focused engineers when functionality requires deeper server-side expertise.
