The Caolan Report is an independent journalism and media organisation covering the war in Ukraine and the stories surrounding it that the mainstream media consistently fails to tell. We are looking for a detail-oriented fact checker and editorial researcher to support our output across video, written, and investigative work.
What the role involves
You will be embedded within our editorial team to verify claims, sources, and factual assertions before publication. This includes cross-referencing statements against primary sources, identifying inaccuracies in scripts and articles, flagging unsupported claims, sourcing documents and official records, and providing written notes on anything that needs correction or further investigation.
This is not a passive role. We move quickly and need someone who can turn around thorough, accurate research under deadline pressure.
What we are looking for
You have a background in journalism, research, or a related field. You are fluent in both English and Ukrainian, which is essential for this role given the nature of our coverage. You are meticulous, sceptical by instinct, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision. Experience with open-source research tools is a strong advantage.
Practicalities
