We are looking for a Python Backend Engineer to work on a high-load video surveillance system. You will develop and optimize backend services and help ensure the system operates reliably in real time
Work format: on-site, Lviv
What you’ll work on
REST API endpoints and background processing pipelines
Database schema design, ORM queries, and migrations
Authentication, authorization, and security hardening
Integration with camera protocols (ONVIF/RTSP) and ML inference services
Internal messaging between processes (ZeroMQ, MQTT)
Observability: structured logging, metrics, and error tracking
Required
Python 3.11+ — confident with async/await and asyncio primitives
FastAPI — routing, dependency injection, middleware, background tasks
SQLAlchemy 2.0 async — mapped columns, async sessions, relationship loading
Pydantic v2 — models, validators, settings management
PostgreSQL — query design, indexes, connection pooling
Alembic — migration authoring and version management
Docker — writing Dockerfiles and working with Docker Compose
Good to have
pgvector or vector database experience
ZeroMQ or other message-passing / IPC patterns
MQTT, RTSP, or camera protocol familiarity
structlog or structured logging in production
pytest-asyncio and async testing patterns
nginx configuration (reverse proxy, auth_request)
Prometheus metrics instrumentation
