Lead 3D Artist
Avatar & Environment · Mobile App
We’re looking for a Lead 3D Artist to help define the visual identity of our mobile app and take ownership of its 3D direction.
At the center of the product is a personal 3D avatar that users interact with throughout the app. Around that character, we are building a cohesive visual world — the avatar itself, environments, lighting, materials, mood, and the overall visual language of the product.
We are not looking for someone who simply executes predefined tasks. We need a strong artist with their own point of view who can bring fresh ideas, establish a distinctive visual style, and effectively take ownership of the 3D art direction.
What you’ll do
Define and develop a unique 3D visual style for the product.
Establish art direction for characters, environments, materials, lighting, and rendering.
Lead the creation and evolution of the main 3D avatar, including appearance, proportions, face, clothing, personality, and overall character language.
Explore how the avatar should look and behave across different states, scenes, and product scenarios.
Design and develop the avatar’s environments and surrounding visual world.
Find the right balance between premium visual quality, stylization, and mobile performance.
Create concepts, moodboards, visual explorations, and style tests.
Build visual rules and guidelines that allow the 3D system to scale consistently.
Collaborate closely with product, UI/UX, and engineering teams to integrate 3D naturally into the app experience.
Provide art feedback and quality control as the 3D team grows.
Help define the production pipeline and technical approach for 3D assets.
Who we’re looking for
Someone who:
Has a strong portfolio in stylized 3D, character art, and/or environment art.
Has a strong understanding of form, composition, color, materials, and lighting.
Has experience creating stylized characters.
Can do more than follow references — you can create and define a visual direction from scratch.
Understands how to build a recognizable product style rather than just individual beautiful renders.
Is comfortable proposing ideas, making creative decisions, and taking responsibility for visual quality.
Understands the full 3D character pipeline from concept to final asset.
Has experience with environments, lighting, and rendering.
Understands real-time/mobile constraints, or is willing to work deeply within them.
Can give and receive clear, constructive art feedback.
Nice to have
Previous experience as a Lead 3D Artist, Senior 3D Artist, or Art Director.
Experience with mobile apps or games.
Character customization systems.
Rigging, facial rigs, blendshapes, or facial animation.
Experience with characters designed to speak, react, and emotionally interact with users.
Unity or Unreal Engine experience.
Real-time optimization for models, materials, and lighting.
Experience building or leading a small 3D team or production pipeline.
Strong interest in modern stylized 3D, animation, and digital characters.
What matters most to us
We already have a direction and a lot of visual exploration, but we do not want to simply copy an existing style.
We’re looking for someone who brings their own taste, experience, and creative perspective — someone who can help answer the question:
“What should this product look like so that people can recognize it from a single frame?”
This role comes with significant creative freedom and real influence over the final look and feel of the product.
What we offer
The opportunity to shape the 3D art direction of the product from the ground up.
Strong influence over the key character and the visual world around them.
Direct collaboration with the product team and minimal bureaucracy.
Space to experiment and introduce your own artistic ideas.
Long-term product work rather than one-off asset production.
The opportunity to help build and eventually lead the 3D team.
