ITSyndicate invites students and beginners in tech to explore real-world DevOps culture and modern software delivery practices through our hands-on DevOps internship program.
Over the course of the program, you'll work through client-style scenarios - the same kind of tasks our engineers handle day to day - covering the full software delivery lifecycle: provisioning infrastructure, containerizing and orchestrating applications, building CI/CD pipelines, securing cloud environments, and monitoring production systems.
What you'll learn
Cloud & Infrastructure as Code: AWS core services, Terraform, Terragrunt
Configuration management: Ansible (roles, playbooks, custom modules)
Containers & orchestration: Docker (incl. image optimization & security), Kubernetes, Helm
CI/CD: GitHub Actions pipelines, self-hosted runners, infrastructure testing (tfsec, tflint, Terratest)
Security & compliance: IAM, security groups, Kubernetes hardening/RBAC/audit logging, compliance automation with Vanta
Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, the ELK stack, Loki
Each topic is delivered as a realistic scenario (e.g., "a client asks you to reduce their Docker image size and improve build time," "set up cross-account VPC peering for two EC2 instances") rather than an isolated tutorial exercise.
Format
~14-week program, part-time/self-paced alongside your studies or job
One weekly lecture (~1 hour) + short daily standups to unblock and check in on progress
Weekly hands-on tasks reviewed by a mentor, submitted via Trello
Mix of individual and pair work (e.g., cross-account networking task is done in pairs)
Who we're looking for
Students or early-career specialists curious about DevOps, cloud, and infrastructure
Basic scripting/Linux familiarity strongly recommended
Genuine interest and consistency matter as much as prior credentials
Able to commit a few hours a week for the full duration of the program
What you get
Direct mentorship from working DevOps engineers at ITSyndicate
A portfolio of real infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and Kubernetes projects on your own GitHub
Regular feedback on your code, documentation, and presentations
Certificates from AWS Cloud Quest and other completed modules along the way
A close look at how our team works day to day - the kind of exposure that has previously opened the door to joining ITSyndicate for the right people
This is an unpaid, mentorship-driven program - our goal is to find people who are genuinely passionate about the field and grow with them.
We'd love to hear from you - apply and we'll share full program details and next steps.
