Numerical Technologies LTD is a leading provider of custom software solutions and services specializing in risk, limits, and regulatory capital. Right now, we are looking for a Database Architect/Engineer to join our team.
What you will be doing:
Lead analysis and decomposition of a large-scale Oracle system with 15+ years of PL/SQL code — separating business logic, CRUD, and dead code, defining what remains in the database vs what is moved out.
Own dependency analysis of PL/SQL packages and architect schema decomposition and data ownership across domains — defining which service owns which tables post-migration.
Own dual-run and dual-write strategies during migration.
Ensure backward compatibility through additive-only schema changes under production constraints.
Lead performance tuning, SQL optimization, and execution plan analysis.
Design and manage hybrid (on-prem + cloud) database topology during live migration, including AWS RDS Oracle with cross-region replication and Direct Connect latency management.
Own data lineage documentation and audit trail design across migrated services.
Project:
Migration of a monolithic Oracle system — 723+ tightly coupled PL/SQL packages — to a decomposed architecture with gradual dual-run migration and controlled schema evolution in production.
Redesign of cross-domain dependencies and data ownership model.
Hybrid on-prem + AWS topology during transition, with Aurora PostgreSQL as the long-term migration target.
What we’re looking for:
Strong Oracle Database 19c+ experience.
Strong PL/SQL (packages, procedures, functions, triggers).
Oracle performance tuning (Explain Plan, AWR/ASH, indexing, partitioning).
Large-scale established Oracle system experience.
Experience with database modernization / monolith decomposition.
Strong understanding of dual-run / dual-write consistency.
Experience with Flyway or Liquibase.
Ability to make architectural decisions in complex established database environments.
Experience with AWS RDS Oracle — TDE encryption at rest, backup/recovery strategy, cross-region replication.
Familiarity with Aurora PostgreSQL as a long-term migration target from Oracle.
Understanding of data ownership mapping, data lineage, and audit trail design in the context of domain decomposition.
GDPR/SOX compliance awareness in database architecture decisions.
What we offer:
Competitive compensation depending on experience and skills.
Regular assessments and salary reviews.
Paid personal days.
Mental health support program.
Language classes.
Flexible working schedule.
